BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS

For the week of Nov. 5th, 2003

Apple cookbooks are almost as plentiful as Northwest Apples! It seems that there is a festival for every food product but Apple Festivals are particularly popular. The Bayfield Festive Apple Cookbook looks like your church or community group put the collection together, but it is a must have for the apple season. Filled with apple tips, tricks and lore, along with over 100 apple recipes, you will reach for this book time and time again. Bayfield is located on Lake Superior in Wisconsin. Each year the festival attracts upwards of 75,000 people. Try one of the recipes (the apple-Pumpkin Bisque looks good) and let me know what you think.
The Apple Cookbook by Olwen Woodier is much more professionally published and has over 150 recipes. Filled with scrumptious ways to use apples for breakfast, starters, soups, salads, side dishes, entrees and of course the final course, DESSERT!
