BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS

If you want to really explore more historic English food Take a 1000 Eggs or More by Cindy Renfrow is the book for you. This collection of recipes, from several manuscripts from the early to mid 1400’s, is easy to use and very well presented. Ms. Renfrow tells us that “Volume 1 contains almost 100 translated recipes which have been adapted for modern cookery. Volume two contains nearly 300 translated recipes that have not been modernized.” Plenty of material to keep any cook busy for several years.
Another more general topic historic cook book is Maggie Black’s The Medieval Cookbook . This book includes easy to prepare recipes, beautiful illustrations and lots of historical references. A great gift for the budding medieval cook or the cook who has everything.
